BET has unveiled its first-ever Board of Advisors, bringing together some of the most influential figures in entertainment, business, and sports to help guide the network’s future. Among those selected are hip-hop legends LL Cool J and Queen Latifah, along with BET founder Bob Johnson.
The newly formed board was created to provide strategic insight and cultural leadership as BET continues to expand its influence in media and entertainment. BET President Louis Carr announced the initiative, describing the advisory group as an important step in ensuring the company remains connected to the communities and culture it serves.
Joining LL Cool J, Queen Latifah, and Bob Johnson on the board are media executive George Cheeks, businessman Raymond J. McGuire, and NFL executive Troy Vincent. Together, the group will offer guidance on BET’s long-term vision, programming, business strategy, and cultural impact.
Bob Johnson’s inclusion carries special significance as the founder of BET. In 1980, Johnson launched the network, making history by creating the first Black-owned television network in the United States. His return in an advisory capacity connects BET’s future ambitions with the legacy upon which the company was built.
LL Cool J and Queen Latifah have each enjoyed decades-long careers that have transcended music. Both artists have become successful actors, producers, entrepreneurs, and cultural icons whose influence extends far beyond hip-hop.
Their involvement is expected to bring valuable perspectives on entertainment, branding, and audience engagement.
According to BET, the board’s mission is to help the network continue elevating Black voices, celebrating Black culture, and creating opportunities for future generations.
The formation of the advisory board comes as BET seeks to strengthen its position as a leading force in media while adapting to the rapidly changing entertainment landscape.
