LeBron James Calls For Justice After His Friend’s Sister Is Found Dead

NBA star LeBron James is calling for justice after the sister of his dear friend Brandon Weems, Cleveland Cavaliers executive, was found fatally shot in James’ hometown.

Ericka Weems, 37, was discovered Monday around 3 PM inside her home in Akron, Ohio with multiple gunshot wounds. Police said she was pronounced dead at the scene and Summit County medical examiner, Denice DiNapoli, ruled Weems’ death a homicide.

The victim’s brother expressed his heartbreak on Instagram. “Why would anyone want to do this to you?” Weems wrote. “I’m so angry, sad and heartbroken. My life will never be the same without you.”

He also expressed his appreciation to his good friend James for bringing light to his sister’s murder on social media.

Weems was known by family and friends as a kind and generous woman who was always willing to help others. Ericka Banks, a longtime friend of Weems, told CBS affiliate WOIO that the woman had a “heart of gold.”

So far there are no suspects in custody — but the investigation is still ongoing.

Sending condolences to the Weems family.
