His cousin announced this heartbreaking news in a Facebook post and a family spokesperson confirmed to TMZ. He just celebrated his 49th birthday on June 10.

Myer’s cousin, Todd Darrell, confirmed his death in a a Facebook post.

“Hey Facebook Family. It’s with great sorrow that we announce the passing of my dear cousin Larry Myers. Many of you know him as Mr. Buttermilk Biscuits. If you can help us we would greatly appreciate it. Larry has fought the good fight. He has overcome some of the biggest Challenges he has ever had to face. Rest well Junior, you will be missed.”

Darrell ended the post, “Thanks and blessings to all. Please keep our family in your prayers.❤️💔🕊️🕊️

According to the Sun, Myers’ cousin Sonia Hines-Hall shared Larry “struggled with asthma his whole life” and in her final phone call with him, she heard he was attached to his CPAP.

According to mayoclinic.org, CPAP provides air at a pressure high enough to prevent the collapse of your airway as the patient sleeps.

Hines-Hall said she heard the news of Larry’s death from his father and medical examiners ruled the cause of death as a heart attack.

The aspiring gospel singer earned the nickname “Mr. Buttermilk Biscuits” after going viral for singing a ditty about buttermilk biscuits at his favorite chicken restaurant.

Myers gained 400 pounds five years after his first weight loss procedure, which led him to “600-lb Life” obesity surgeon Dr. Younan Nowzaradan.

Myers appeared in the 2022 season of the long-running TLC series. Myers was bedridden at 940 pounds and explained in episode 13, titled “Larry’s journey”, that the death of his mom and nephew led to him binge eating and gaining weight.

“I eat to comfort myself. When I’m cooking, it’s the only time I’m happy, besides when I’m eating,” he said on the show, according to Distractify. “So it’s the time that I like to sing, and I sing gospel. Because the rest of the time, when I’m not eating, most of my thoughts are morbidly depressing.”

In March 2022, he appeared on the Ricky Smiley Morning Show and told Smiley he was trying to get his life back together. Myers explained he had “got depressed….fell back into his old ways” and regained 200 pounds, but that he had undergone surgery and already lost around 100 pounds.

Myers also had a show on YouTube called The Buttermilk Biscuit Show where he shared motivational messages and shared his journey.

Before his death, Myers was seen taking up a healthier lifestyle as he was pictured boxing and eating salads on Facebook. On May 25, he posted a video to Facebook that showed him at least 12 months prior.

A GoFundMe page was set up to help funeral costs. On Wednesday, the page raised almost $3,000. The goal is set at $35,000. Myers’ god-sister left a statement on the page.

“From a small storefront church in his home town to the big stage of the Apollo theater, Larry always made himself available to sing at special events anytime anyone asked, most of the time free of charge,” Hines-Hall write on the page. “His struggle with weight gain/loss never dimmed his drive to show love and kindness to all he met.”

The statement also read that Myers has shared his musical talents with others since he was 10-years old.

“As a family, we want to bring our beloved Larry home one more time so we can lay him to rest with dignity and respect,” the page concluded.
