Kyler Murray Makes History By Being The First To Get Selected In The NFL And MLB First Round Draft

University of Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray is making history as the first ever athlete to be picked in the first round drafts of Major League Baseball and the NFL.

USA Today reports:

Murray was the No. 9 overall pick by the Oakland Athletics in 2018 and agreed to a deal that allowed him to play football for one more year at Oklahoma. But after a Heisman Trophy-winning campaign in which he accounted for 5,362 total yards and 54 touchdowns, he opted to pursue a career in the NFL rather than in baseball, forfeiting most of the $4.66 million signing bonus he was set to receive.

“I can’t put it into words,” Murray said after being selected. “It’s a dream come true.”

The decision gives first-year Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury a catalyst for his newly installed Air Raid offense. While still serving as Texas Tech’s coach last year, Kingsbury heaped praise on Murray by saying, “Kyler is a freak. I would take him with the first pick of the draft if I could.”

Unfortunately some people didn’t share the same amount of joy as Kyle’s fans. The current president of the United States of America went to Twitter to congratulate the 2nd 1st round pick, instead of acknowledging Kyle and his accomplishments.

Don’t worry Kyle, let the haters hate. We’re very proud of you!
