Keyshia Cole’s Adoptive Father Passes Away Due To COVID-19 Complications

Only 4 months after losing her mother, Keyshia Cole is mourning the loss of another parent. Her adoptive father Leon Cole, Jr. has passed away due to complications from COVID-19.

The R&B singer first confirmed her father’s passing on Twitter when a fan page sent their condolences.

On Friday, Cole’s adoptive mother Dr. Yvonne Cole took to Facebook to make the solemn announcement.

‘With a heart of sadness and sincere condolences, we solicit your prayers for Dr. Yvonne Cole and the Cole family in the passing of Mr. Leon Cole, Jr.’ she said in a statement on the social media site. ‘You are welcome to leave your prayers and any heart warming messages as they deal with the passing of Mr. Leon Cole Jr, due to COVID 19 complications. We appreciate the support for our family from around the world.’

Yvonne had previously taken to the Facebook on November 7 to reveal that Leon was in the ICU of a local hospital as he was ‘experiencing several health challenges due to COVID-19.

On Tuesday, Keyshia shared a post letting the fans know that her father didn’t make it, and shared a heartfelt tribute to him.’

The singer was adopted at the age of two by Leon and Yvonne, who remained close with Keyshia’s birth mother, Frankie Lons, who died this past July on her 61st birthday following a fatal drug overdose.

Keyshia Cole's mother Frankie has died.

The singer touched on her mother’s battle with substance abuse, praising her for reaching sobriety for 60 days in March of 2020.

Sending love and condolences to the Cole family, and they mourn the loss of their king.
