Jackson Brothers to Share Their Untold Story in New Documentary Featuring Tito Jackson’s Final Interview

The Jackson family’s remarkable musical legacy is getting a new chapter as Jackie, Jermaine, Tito, and Marlon Jackson take center stage in an upcoming documentary exploring their journey with the legendary Jackson 5.

The untitled project will offer an intimate look at the brothers’ rise from their childhood in Gary, Indiana, to international superstardom, along with the family dynamics, personal struggles, separations, and reunions that shaped their lives behind the music.

According to Variety, the documentary has been in development for three years and will feature exclusive access to the brothers, rare archival footage, previously unseen material, and personal reflections on their experiences as members of one of music’s most influential family groups.

A Closer Look at Life Behind the Jackson 5

The documentary will explore the early years of the Jackson 5 and the influence of their parents, Joe and Katherine Jackson, on the family’s musical journey.

Joe Jackson’s demanding approach to managing his children’s careers will be examined, including the rigorous rehearsals that helped prepare the young performers for the music industry. The brothers will share their individual recollections of those formative years, including the pressure of performing, competition among siblings, and the lighter moments they experienced along the way.

Their mother, Katherine Jackson, will also be recognized for her role in the family’s journey as the brothers navigated childhood, fame, and life beyond their hometown.

The project promises to offer a more personal perspective on the Jackson brothers’ experiences, highlighting how their individual lives evolved while they remained connected through their shared musical history.

Tito Jackson’s Final Interview to Be Included

One of the documentary’s most significant features will be the final interview given by Tito Jackson before his death in September 2024 at age 70.

Tito, who played guitar and helped establish the Jackson 5’s signature sound, will have an opportunity to share his perspective on the family’s history through footage recorded before his passing. His contribution will appear alongside the reflections of his surviving brothers, Jackie, Jermaine, and Marlon.

The inclusion of Tito’s final interview adds a meaningful element to the project, allowing audiences to hear from all four brothers as they revisit their experiences and the legacy they built together.

Benjamin Hirsch to Direct the Documentary

The documentary will be directed by Benjamin Hirsch, who previously worked on the documentary project about Janet Jackson.

Workerbee and Paper Route Studios are producing the project, while Mediawan will handle international distribution and introduce it to potential buyers at MIPCOM, the international television and audiovisual content market.

The production is being offered in two formats: a 90-minute documentary film or a three-part documentary series, with a global release planned. An official premiere date and distribution platform have not yet been announced.
