Rapper Ja Rule had a hard time answering a viewer’s question about the ongoing rumor of Ashanti singing Jennifer Lopez‘s songs early on in her career.

After what seemed to be a pretty straightforward opportunity to clear up a 20-year rumor, Ja Rule fumbled an opportunity to keep it 100.

On Sunday night, the former Murder Inc. artist joined Andy Cohen on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live and was asked the question.

So… Ashanti was really singing on the track, Ja?

Back in 2014, Ashanti also addressed these rumors in an interview with Blogxilla. Check it out at the 3:00 mark.

Regardless, both songs were dope and was two of the top hits back in the early 2000’s.
