Independent Autopsy of George Floyd Shows He Died Of Asphyxiation, Declared Homicide
An independent autopsy was performed and determined that George Floyd died of asphyxiation — cutting of air and blood circulation in his lungs and neck. They ruled his death as a homicide.
While local officials pointed to underlying health conditions, they agreed a police officer’s compression of his neck also led to his death.
The family’s co-counsel, Attorney Lee Merritt, breaks down the findings.
Though the four officers have been fired only one is facing criminal charges. Derek Chauvin is currently in police custody in a maximum security jail.
He’s charged with 3rd degree murder and misdemeanor but those charges could change.
Others involved in the murder could faces charges as well.
The investigation is still ongoing.
