“I’ll F*ck You Up”: Russell Westbrook Said A Racial Comment From A Courtside Fan Started the Altercation

Oklahoma Thunder star Russell Westbrook had a heated exchange with a Utah Jazz fan at a NBA game in Salt Lake City on Monday night. Early in the quarter, Westbrook stood up from the bench when he felt the man and his wife directed a racial taunt at him. According to Westbrook, the fan said “get down on your knees like you used to.” After that, Westbrook was seen on video cursing at the man and threating him and his wife saying, “I will F*ck you up!” Here’s a clip of the incident.

After the game, Westbrook explained to the press what started the argument.

The fan, 45-year-old Shane Keisel, told ESPN that he did not cuss at Westbrook or say anything inappropriate. Keisel said the exchange “started off as fun” with him yelling at Westbrook to “ice those knees up!” According to Keisel, after Westbrook replied that it was heat on his knees, Keisel hollered, “You’re going to need it.” Keisel said his wife, Jennifer Huff, didn’t participate in the exchange.

Many players in the NBA came to Westbrook’s defense. Dwyane Wade posted a video of the fan giving his account of the incident with a caption that said, “Lies people tell.” Westbrook’s teammate, Patrick Patterson also went to twitter:

The Utah Jazz addressed the issue:

“We are continuing to investigate the unfortunate exchange at tonight’s game between Russell Westbrook and fans,” a postgame statement released by the Jazz said. “Multiple warning cards were issued by arena security. Players and fans have a shared responsibility to create a safe and respectful environment. If it is determined that any fans violated the NBA Code of Conduct, appropriate action will be taken.”

So Knowsies, who do you think was in the wrong? Westbrook, Shane the fan, or both?
