Halle Berry and Zoë Kravitz Team Up for New Rom-Com Otherwise Engaged

Hollywood is giving fans an unexpected Catwoman reunion!

Halle Berry and Zoë Kravitz are set to star together in the upcoming romantic comedy Otherwise Engaged, where the two actresses will trade their superhero connections for the roles of mother and daughter.

The film follows Gabby, played by Kravitz, and her fiancé Charlie, portrayed by Jack Whitehall. The couple is preparing for their wedding when Charlie’s estranged father, a fallen business tycoon recently released from prison and played by Colin Firth, arrives unexpectedly.

Things become even more complicated when Charlie’s father falls for Gabby’s fiercely independent mother, played by Berry. What should be a dream wedding quickly turns into a complicated family situation involving two unexpected love stories.

The Catwoman Connection

One of the most interesting aspects of the casting is that Berry and Kravitz have both portrayed Catwoman.

Berry starred as Patience Phillips in the 2004 film Catwoman, while Kravitz played Selina Kyle/Catwoman opposite Robert Pattinson in 2022’s The Batman

Now, years after separately stepping into the iconic role, the two actresses will share the screen as mother and daughter—a fun full-circle moment for fans of the DC character.

But Otherwise Engaged moves far away from the superhero world. The movie is being directed by Suzanne Farwell, who co-wrote the screenplay with Gabriel Mizrahi. Farwell is also producing the film alongside Susan Cartsonis and Laura Rister.

Production is scheduled to begin in New York in March 2027. Mister Smith Entertainment is handling international sales, while CAA Media Finance is handling U.S. rights.

With Berry, Kravitz, Firth and Whitehall leading the cast, Otherwise Engaged promises romance, comedy and plenty of family drama.

And for fans, getting to see two former Catwomen play mother and daughter may be the most entertaining connection of all.
