Gunman Opens Fire At NC Comedy Club Featuring Craig Robinson

Comedian and actor Craig Robinson show at the Comedy Zone in Charlotte, North Carolina was canceled after a gunman began shooting inside the venue Saturday.

The gunman entered the venue just after 9 PM and brandished a gun, demanding that everyone leaves the club. That caused the audience, including Robinson, to head to a next-door venue for safety.

The “Peeples,” star posted to Instagram about the experience.

“I’m performing at the Comedy Zone in Charlotte, North Carolina. There was an active shooter in the comedy club. So they moved us over to this — there’s a concert going on so I thought I’d just share with y’all.”

He added, “I’m safe. I’m cool. It was wild I was in the green room and they’re like ‘everybody get out!’ It was a moment for sure.”

According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the unidentified suspect was taken into custody and no one was injured.

A police statement said more information about the shooting would be released later, but did not specify when.

Craig posted a statement on social media thanking the security, staff, and CMPD for their swift response.

No word on whether Craig’s show has been rescheduled yet.
