Frank Ocean Drops Out As Coachella Headliner Due To Leg Injury

Frank Ocean will unfortunately not be able to perform at Coachella as the headliner during weekend 2.

The “Thinkin’ Bout You” singer is suffering from two fractures and a sprain in his left leg, according to TMZ.

A statement released by his representative says, “After suffering an injury to his leg on festival grounds in the week leading up to weekend 1, Frank Ocean was unable to perform the intended show but was still intent on performing, and in 72 hours, the show was reworked out of necessity.”

They continue, “On doctor’s advice, Frank is not able to perform weekend 2 due to two fractures and a sprain in his left leg.”

The note concludes with a statement from Ocean: “‘It was chaotic. There is some beauty in chaos. It isn’t what I intended to show but I did enjoy being out there and I’ll see you soon.’ — Frank Ocean.”

Ocean first performed during weekend 1 of Coachella but unfortunately, his performance was met with confusion and disappointment from many. According to multiple outlets, there was a mid-performance DJ set and there was low energy coming from the singer. It also started an hour late, which sources say was due to the last-minute production change. This made many of his fans upset with his performance, especially knowing this was his first performance in six years.

Fans expressed their dissapointment on social media after hearing Frank Ocean will not be performing on weekend 2. Some called the situation a “scam”, while others said they only went to Coachella to see Frank.

Variety reported that Blink-182 would be taking the headlining spot during weekend 2:
Blink 182 (Travis Barker, Mark Hoppus, and Tom DeLonge

Blink played a surprise set in the Sahara Tent during the first weekend of the event, drawing a huge crowd with a set full of classics. The gig marked the first live show that Tom DeLonge, Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker have played together since 2014. Blink will hit the UK as part of their reunion tour later this year, with dates lined up in Glasgow, London, Birmingham and Manchester.

We wish you a speedy recovery Frank!
