Fashion legend André Leon Talley has passed away at the age of 73. A TMZ source close to the icon said that he passed away Tuesday at a hospital in White Plains, NY. The cause of death hasn’t been revealed yet.
André, who was a former Vogue creative director and editor-at-large, left a big footprint in the fashion industry. He held down major roles with the magazine throughout the 80’s to the 2010’s. He eventually left the company in 2013.
After his departure, he continued contributing his expertise to Vogue in many ways.
André was a voice that many respected, and he was instrumental in pushing more Black models on the runway.
His work also includes: fashion commentary, judge on “America’s Next Top Model,” and being a stylist for the Obamas during Barack’s presidency.
André also supported the LBGT community. He never said he was gay but he was clearly fluid and comfortable in his sexuality.
Rest in peace André.
