Falcons Players’ Aunt Killed in Devastating Kroger Parking Lot Crash

A woman killed in a tragic crash outside a Georgia Kroger has been identified as the aunt of A.J. Terrell and Avieon Terrell, according to family members and local authorities.

The victim, 49-year-old Giselle Perry, was sitting in her parked car outside the Kroger on Wesley Chapel Road in Decatur on Wednesday afternoon when another vehicle slammed into her car at high speed. Investigators say the impact pushed multiple vehicles toward the sidewalk and into the side of the building.

Family members said Perry had dropped her mother off at the grocery store and was waiting in the parking lot when the crash occurred. She died at the scene.

Witnesses described the incident as chaotic and explosive. One nearby barber told local media the crash sounded like an explosion, while another witness said the speeding vehicle came through the parking lot “like a missile.” Surveillance footage reportedly captured the car speeding through the area moments before impact.

Authorities said the driver who caused the crash and a pedestrian injured during the incident were both hospitalized with serious injuries. The driver’s daughter told reporters her mother may have blacked out behind the wheel before the collision.

Perry’s death sparked an outpouring of grief from her family, including her nephews, who both play for the Atlanta Falcons. A.J. Terrell shared an emotional tribute on social media, writing that his “heart is heavy,” while Avieon Terrell described his aunt as one of his biggest supporters.

Her husband, Laddyan Perry, remembered her as “loving” and “everything to me,” adding that the couple was preparing to celebrate their fourth wedding anniversary next month.

The crash remains under investigation by DeKalb County police.
