Eddie Murphy Reunites With Golden Child Co-Star After 33 Years

“He was just as kind as I remembered him when I was 6,” Jasmin L. Reate says after meeting up with her former co-star Eddie Murphy.

The two actors reunited while Eddie was in town for the Toronto International Film Festival on Sunday — 33 years after their 1986 movie The Golden Child hit theaters.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Eddie stopped by their studio to promote his upcoming movie Dolemite Is My Name, and ran into Jasmine, who is THR executive director of events. The former co-stars posed for a photo opp.

Jasmine played the role of the Golden Child in the movie. (Yes, the “boy” in the movie was, in fact, played by a female.)

Here’s the trailer for those that haven’t seen it.

Meanwhile, Dolemite Is My Name stars Eddie Murphy as real-life comedian Rudy Ray Moore, who gained fame in midlife with his 1970s Blaxploitation character Dolemite. Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow) directed the film, which co-stars Keegan-Michael Key, Mike Epps, Craig Robinson, Tituss Burgess, Snoop Dogg, Ron Cephas Jones and Wesley Snipes, among others.

The film is set to be released on Netflix October 25, 2019.
