Disney+ Announces “Rise,” Film Based On NBA Star Giannis Antetokounmpo And His Family

Disney+ has announced a new movie coming to the streaming platform next year, entitled Rise. The film is based on Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo and his family.

Giannis, Thanasis, and Kostas Antetokounmpo are the first trio of brothers to win an NBA championship: Giannis and Thanasis with the Bucks, and Kostas with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020.

The story will surround a family that emigrated from Nigeria to Greece. Four brothers who wanted to live a dream in the NBA.

The MVP star Giannis also post…

“I am thrilled and honored that Disney Plus is bringing my family’s story to people all over the world. My hope is that it will inspire those in similar circumstances to keep the faith, stay true to their goals and not to give up on striving for a better life.”

The movie will star young real-life brothers Uche Agada and Ral Agada, along with Jaden Osimuwa and Elijah Shomanke. The parents Charles and Vera Antetokounmpo will be played by Emperor star Dayo Okeyiyi and American Gods actress Yetide Badaki.

No word on a release date yet but we should expect a beautiful and inspirational story that will be shared.
