Dennis “Dee Tee” Thomas, Co-Founder of Kool & The Gang, Has Died
Saxophonist and co-founder of the legendary group Kool & The Gang Dennis “Dee Tee” Thomas has passed away. The band announced the sad news on Instagram Saturday stating that Thomas died “peacefully” in sleep in New Jersey at the age on 70.
Dee Tee music career began with Kool & the Gang back in 1964, and his last appearance with them occurred when they kicked off the 2021 season of the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles for the 4th Of July.
Kool & The Gang made many hits such as “Jungle Boogie,” “Get Down On It,” “Ladies Night,” “Cherish,” “Too Hot,” “Joanna,” “Fresh,” and the list go on and on.
Ronald Bell, another co-founder of the group, also died about a year ago on September 9, 2020.
Dee Tee is survived by his wife Phynjuar Saunders Thomas, his daughter Tuesday Rankin, and his sons David Thomas and Devin Thomas.
He was predeceased by his daughters Tracy Jackson and The Cosby Show and Family Matters actress Michelle Thomas.
