The entertainment world is mourning the sudden loss of Patrick Muldoon, the actor and musician best known for his roles on Days of Our Lives and Melrose Place. He was 57.
Muldoon died on Sunday, April 19, after suffering a heart attack at his home in Beverly Hills, according to reports confirmed by TMZ.
His sister, Shana Muldoon-Zappa, shared that the actor had been at home with his girlfriend when the incident occurred. After going to shower, Muldoon was later found unconscious on the bathroom floor. Paramedics were called to the scene and attempted to revive him, but were ultimately unable to save his life.
A staple of 1990s television, Muldoon first rose to fame portraying Austin Reed on Days of Our Lives, a role he originated from 1992 to 1995 before briefly returning to the series from 2011 to 2012. He later gained further recognition as the scheming fashion designer Richard Hart on Melrose Place from 1995 to 1996.
In addition to his soap opera success, Muldoon appeared in several notable film and television projects. He had a recurring role on Saved by the Bell and starred in the 1997 sci-fi film Starship Troopers, directed by Paul Verhoeven.
Beyond acting, Muldoon built a career behind the scenes as a producer. Through his company, Storyboard Productions, he worked on films such as The Tribes of Palos Verdes, Arkansas, Marlowe, The Card Counter, The Dreadful, and Riff Raff.
At the time of his passing, Muldoon was actively working on upcoming projects, including the film Kockroach, which he had recently promoted on social media. The project is set to star Chris Hemsworth, Taron Egerton, Zazie Beetz, and Alec Baldwin, and is currently filming in Australia.
Muldoon is survived by his partner, Miriam Rothbart, and his family.
