A date has been set! Paramount Pictures has announced that the “Coming to America” sequel is scheduled to hit theaters August 7, 2020. The highly-anticipated film will be directed by Craig Brewer (Hustle and Flow) and actor Eddie Murphy will be resuming his role as Prince Akeem, while receiving executive producer credit. The film’s IMDb page has only confirmed two actors, Eddie Murphy and James Earl Jones, who will once again portray Akeem’s controlling father, King Jaffee Joffer.

The plot seems to be an interesting one. According to Deadline, “Akeem learns about a long-lost son, and must return to America to meet the unlikely heir to the throne of Zamunda.” Maybe this son was conceived during the time the prince was sowing his royal oats.
