Comedian And Actor Louie Anderson Has Passed Away At 68
Louie Anderson, Emmy-winning actor and comedian, died Friday in Las Vegas. He was 68-years old.
His publicist Glenn Schwartz confirmed the heartbreaking news. He said the cause of death was complications from diffuse large B cell lymphoma, a form of blood cancer. We previously reported that Louie was hospitalized for cancer treatment in Las Vegas.
Louie’s good friend and fellow-actor Pauly Shore revealed on social media Thursday that the family allowed him to visit Louie and say his goodbyes.
Louie, born one of 11 children in St. Paul, Minnesota, started his career in 1981 when he won first place at Midwest Comedy Competition.
The host of the competition was so impressed that he hired Louie as a writer.
Following his writing gig, Louie hit the road for his standup comedy shows, and made his television debut in 1984 on the Carson Tonight Show.
Louie’s acting and comedy career spans over 4 decades. His most memorable role was a McDowell employee in the hit film Coming to America.
In 2016, he won an Emmy for his role as Christine Baskets in the FX series Baskets.
Louie was also a game show host. He hosted Family Feud from 1999-2002. He appeared on other game shows such as Hollywood Squares and Cash Cab.
He has definitely left his mark in this world. He will truly be missed.
