Actress Ciera Payton of Tyler Perry’s The Oval is set to play Wendy Williams in the upcoming Lifetime biopic and Empire actor Morocco Omari will portray Wendy’s ex-husband Kevin Hunter.

The movie entitled Wendy Williams: Hot Topic (working title) will be the story of the outspoken television host and former radio star. According to Deadline, the biopic reveals the highs and lows Wendy has experienced throughout the years, from her scrappy upstart days in urban radio to the success of her own syndicated talk show.

The movie is executive produced by Will Packer and Sheila Ducksworth.

Productions start this month and is scheduled to debut in 2021.
