Celebrities And Fans Are Excited About Netflix Bringing Back Classic Black Sitcoms

Haven’t you heard? Netflix’s Strong Black Lead Twitter account announced that: Moesha, seasons 1-3 of The Game, Sister, Sister, Girlfriends, The Parkers, Half & Half, and One on One, are joining the Netflix family. Most of the titles will be available by October 15 but “Moesha” begin streaming on the platform August 1.

That is seven of the most iconic Black shows and people are excited!

 

 

Actress Gabrielle Union tweeted, “Yessssssss!!!!!!!!!!” as she shared the news. Performers Chloe x Halle tweeted, “This week keeps getting better x better.”

Tracee Ellis Ross, Essence Atkins and Tamera Mowry-Housley released a video excited that the next generation will be able to watch this shows.

Netflix released a statement that acknowledges fans desire for these classics. “These classics have been at the top of our members’ wishlists — and ours’ — for a long time and we constantly see these shows named-checked in our conversations with them,” said Bradley Edwards, Netflix manager of content acquisition, and Jasmyn Lawson, manager of Strong Black Lead, in a joint statement. “From the first days of Strong Black Lead in February 2018, our comment sections have been filled with members asking about this kind of classic Black content.
