‘Bad Boys 4’: Tasha Smith Will Replace Theresa Randle as Martin Lawrence’s Onscreen Wife
Tasha Smith will join Martin Lawrence and Will Smith in the upcoming installment of Sony Pictures’ Bad Boys franchise, Variety reported.
In Bad Boys 4, Smith will play Theresa, Marcus Burnett’s (Lawrence) loving and devoted wife, a role previously played by Theresa Randle in the first three Bad Boys films.
The reason for the recast hasn’t been revealed but Smith is more than capable of pulling off the role.
She’s starred in TV series like Empire, First Wives Club, and The Corner but is mostly recognized for playing Angela in Tyler Perry‘s film Why Did I Get Married.
Smith also has a directing career. She directed episodes of Our Kind of People, Mayor of Kingstown and Bel-Air.
The Bad Boys series stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence as Miami-Dade detectives Mike Lowery and Marcus Burnett.
Bad Boys has a history of huge success at the box office. The original Bad Boys earned $141 million, while the 2003 sequel Bad Boys II totaled $273 million. Bad Boys for Life outgrossed them both with a combined $426.5 million.
Shortly after the third installment, it was quickly announced that Sony Pictures was developing Bad Boys 4. The starring duo confirmed the news in an Instagram post.
At CinemaCon 2023, both Will Smith and Lawrence shared that they were four weeks into filming the movie.
Although Randle will not reprise her role as Marcus’ wife in Bad Boys 4, several other franchise cast members will return for the film series’ latest installment.
Along with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, Vanessa Hudgens will reprise her role as Advanced Miami Metro Operations (AMMO) weapons expert Kelly, alongside Alexander Ludwig as AMMO tech specialist Dorn, and Paola Núñez as Captain Rita Secada, the head of AMMO.
Grey’s Anatomy and Euphoria star Eric Dane has been cast as Bad Boys 4‘s chief villain, with Fantastic Four‘s Reed Richards actor Ioan Gruffudd in an undisclosed role.
This should be a good one.
