Marathon Burger Opens at Los Angeles International Airport, Bringing Nipsey Hussle’s Legacy to LAX

Marathon Burger is officially open at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), bringing a taste of Los Angeles culture and the entrepreneurial legacy of the late rapper Nipsey Hussle to travelers passing through one of the region’s busiest airports.

The restaurant celebrated its grand opening on October 26, 2026, at Terminal 1 as part of a broader effort to introduce more locally rooted dining and retail brands to the airport. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and representatives from Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), ASUR Airports and Concord Collective joined the celebration.

Marathon Burger is part of The Marathon Brand, founded by Nipsey Hussle in 2010. Following his death in 2019, his family and team, including his brother, Samiel “Blacc Sam” Asghedom, have continued building on his vision of entrepreneurship, community investment and economic empowerment.

The brand’s flagship restaurant opened on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles in 2025 and has since expanded to additional Southern California locations.

At its new LAX location, customers can enjoy the restaurant’s signature made-to-order Wagyu smash burgers, prepared with special seasoning, house-made Fresno peppers and the brand’s signature sauce. The menu also includes fries, hot wings, breakfast selections and cocktails, offering travelers a variety of options throughout the day.

The airport location also features a Marathon merchandise pop-up shop, giving fans and travelers an opportunity to purchase branded apparel and other items.

For Asghedom, bringing Marathon Burger to LAX represents another meaningful milestone in the business’s growth and his brother’s lasting legacy.

The opening also reflects LAX’s effort to give visitors a stronger connection to the city through its food, culture and homegrown businesses. The airport is working with its partners to refresh more than 25 dining and retail locations across several terminals ahead of Los Angeles hosting the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Marathon Burger is not the only recognizable Los Angeles brand making its way into Terminal 1. Kogi BBQ, the celebrated Korean-Mexican street food concept co-founded by chef Roy Choi, has also opened a location at the airport. Its menu features popular offerings such as tacos, burritos and quesadillas.

Together, the openings bring two influential Los Angeles food brands to an international travel hub, allowing visitors to experience a taste of the city before departing or shortly after arriving.

For Marathon Burger, the new location represents more than another restaurant. It is another step in carrying forward Nipsey Hussle’s vision and the legacy of a hometown artist whose influence continues to extend beyond music into business, culture and community development.

Travelers can now visit Marathon Burger in Terminal 1 at Los Angeles International Airport.
