David Lami Friebe, known to many fans simply as Lami, is leveling up his career with a major new role. The actor, who won audiences over as Trey, the charming delivery man on Tyler Perry’s BET hit Sistas, has officially joined the cast of CBS’s Beyond The Gates.
Lami broke the news on Instagram, writing:
“DREAMS COME TRUE Y’ALL. I’m steppin’ into a new character and the next phase of my life and I’m in disbelief—blessed to be able to join the powerhouse cast of the HISTORIC @cbstv show Beyond The Gates @beyondthegatescbs as a major character ~ what is life rn…”
Friebe will portray Izaiah Hawthorne, the brother of Jacob, who enters the story at a critical moment. Izaiah’s arrival is set to stir up family drama and secrets while also connecting to Naomi (Arielle Prepitit) and Jacob’s troubled marriage storyline. His debut is slated for the fall, though CBS has not yet announced an official airdate.
In addition to Sistas, Friebe has appeared on The CW’s All American, the series Bloody Famous, and the 2024 feature film The Haunting of Hollywood.
With his new role, fans can expect Lami to bring both intensity and complexity to the already layered drama of Beyond The Gates.
