Houston Rapper Judy World Killed in Stabbing; Woman Charged with Manslaughter

Houston’s music community is mourning the loss of local rapper Krystal Jordan, better known by her stage names Judy World and Play Girl Judy, after she was fatally stabbed over the weekend. Authorities have arrested a suspect in connection with her death.

According to the Houston Police Department, officers responded to a reported stabbing around 10 p.m. Saturday on Bat Sheva Lane on Houston’s south side. Investigators say 28-year-old Kayla Wynita Rodgers allegedly stabbed Jordan in the leg during an altercation. Jordan was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries. She was 28 years old.

Rodgers was detained at the scene and has since been charged with manslaughter, according to court records. The investigation remains ongoing.

Jordan’s family is calling for a more serious charge. Her mother, Keia Jordan, told FOX 26 that Rodgers is the sister of Jordan’s boyfriend and believes the case should be prosecuted as murder rather than manslaughter.

Family members described Judy World as a talented artist whose passion for music began at a young age. Her brother, Travion Walker, said she inspired those around her and thanked fans and the Houston community for the outpouring of love and support following her death.

Jordan leaves behind a 10-year-old daughter. A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help support her child, and loved ones have planned a balloon release in her honor on Friday, July 17, at 5:30 p.m. at Crestmont Park in Houston.

The Houston Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal stabbing. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact investigators.
