The hit urban drama True to the Game is making the leap to television — and Vivica A. Fox is taking the reins both in front of and behind the camera.
According to Variety, the acclaimed actress will reprise her fan-favorite role as Shoog in the upcoming TV series based on Terri Woods’ best-selling crime romance trilogy. Fox originally played Shoog in all three film installments of the franchise, which began with the 2017 release of True to the Game, followed by 2020’s True to the Game 2: Gena’s Story and 2021’s True to the Game 3.
The new series is set to begin production this fall in Los Angeles, marking Fox’s return to the gritty world of love, loyalty, and high-stakes street drama — but this time with the expanded storytelling space that only television can offer.
Joining Fox in the cast are On My Block star Sierra Capri, Bentley Green (White Men Can’t Jump), Angell Conwell (The Young and the Restless), and Carl Anthony Payne II, best known for his iconic role as Cole on Martin.
The original film trilogy centered on the dangerous yet passionate love story between Quadir, a charismatic drug lord played by Columbus Short, and Gena, portrayed by Erica Peeples. With its mix of romance, betrayal, and suspense, the series gained a devoted following and cemented itself as a major player in the urban drama genre.
Now, as True to the Game transitions from the big screen to television, fans can expect deeper character arcs, new twists, and the same intensity that made the films a cult favorite.
