The Power Universe is showing no signs of slowing down.
STARZ has officially ordered Power: Legacy to series, reuniting two of the franchise’s most beloved characters for the first time since the explosive finale of Power Book IV: Force. The new eight-episode drama will star Joseph Sikora and Michael Rainey Jr., who return as Tommy Egan and Tariq St. Patrick.
The series picks up immediately following the events of the Force finale, where Tommy and Tariq joined forces once again. After establishing himself as one of the most powerful figures in Chicago’s criminal underworld, Tommy receives an invitation from Tariq to bring that same energy back to New York City. Tommy accepts, setting the stage for a new chapter in the Power saga.
According to the official logline, Tommy returns to New York, where he partners with Tariq to take the city by storm.
Gary Lennon, who previously served as showrunner for Power Book IV: Force and executive producer on the original Power series, will serve as showrunner and executive producer on Power: Legacy. The pilot episode was co-written by Lennon and Kendra Chapman Davis.
Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson returns as executive producer through G-Unit Film & Television, alongside Power creator Courtney A. Kemp, Mark Canton, Joseph Sikora, Kendra Chapman Davis, and Chris Selak. Michael Rainey Jr. will also serve as a producer on the series.
“Power never dies, and this chapter is our biggest yet,” Jackson said in a statement. “Fans have been waiting to see Tariq and Tommy together, and now they’re taking over New York City.”
Kathryn Busby, President of Original Programming at STARZ, praised the continued success of the franchise, noting that the Power Universe has remained a cultural phenomenon for more than a decade. She described Power: Legacy as a bold new chapter that honors the franchise’s rich history while pushing the story into exciting new territory.
The announcement comes as the Power franchise continues to expand. Power Book III: Raising Kanan returns for its fifth and final season on June 12, while Power: Origins is currently in production and will explore the early years of Kanan Stark, James “Ghost” St. Patrick, and Tommy Egan.
Since debuting in 2014, the Power franchise has generated more than 2 billion viewing hours globally, cementing its place as one of television’s most successful and influential drama franchises.
A premiere date for Power: Legacy has not yet been announced, but anticipation is already building for Tommy and Tariq’s long-awaited return to New York.
