It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of TikTok and YouTube personality Malik Taylor, best known as The Unpopular Party. The 28-year-old content creator was tragically killed in a vehicle collision on August 20, 2025, in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Malik had recently celebrated his 28th birthday in July and had just relocated from Memphis, Tennessee—his hometown—to Charlotte to begin a new chapter in life. In one of his recent videos, Malik proudly stated, “I’m in Charlotte because the Queen City needed a king.”

Known for his funny and relatable lifestyle videos, Malik quickly rose to popularity with over 200,000 followers on TikTok, building a loyal fan base across social media platforms like TikTok and YouTube. His humor, authenticity, and positive energy made him a rising star in the digital world.
The accident occurred while Malik was in a vehicle; he died on impact. At this time, it is unclear whether any other vehicles were involved or if alcohol played a role.
The news has shaken both the Charlotte community and Malik’s thousands of followers, as well as his brothers in Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, and fellow members of Alpha Kappa Psi (AKPsi). In an official statement, the fraternity wrote:
“It is with heavy hearts that we share our beloved Brother, Malik Taylor, has gone to ‘Audit Eternal.’ To know him was to know he was a light to everyone—always bringing laughter, joy, and a warm smile that brightened every room he entered. Brother Taylor embodied the values of brotherhood, unity, and compassion. His ability to uplift others, share kindness, and spread joy will forever remain in our memories.”
Though his life was tragically cut short, Malik Taylor’s legacy endures through the joy he spread, the friendships he built, and the inspiration he gave to countless people. His story is a reminder of the fragile nature of life and the lasting influence of creativity and positivity.
