Ike Turner’s Daughter Defends Her Father and Supports Play That Tells His Story

Ike Turner daughter defends her father.

“The man I know was loving and caring,” says Twanna Turner — daughter of Ike Turner, who was married to Grammy-award winning superstar Tina Turner.

Twanna shares her support for a play that is telling what’s described as her late dad’s story. The play entitled Taking Back My Name: The Ike Turner Story was written by playwright John L. Ruffin. Twanna Turner shared a flyer for the play.

Ike Turner was a famous musician/songwriter who was an early pioneer of 1950s rock and roll. He was well known for his work with his then-wife, singer Tina Turner, during the 60s/70s.

In the 1993 Tina Turner biopic What’s Love Got to Do with It details some of the alleged abuse Tina endured from Ike during their marriage.

On Thursday, Twanna continued thanking the cast and playwright John L. Ruffin for sharing her father’s side of the story.

Ike’s daughter even shared clips of the play.

Twanna also had a lot to say to the haters who commented on her posts.

Hello to ALL of you who have chosen to desecrate my post I am using to celebrate of my father.I started to delete your vile posts, but I then realized that would be taking part of “Cancel Culture”, which I totally disagree with. This is a nation which protects our right to voice our opinions whether we agree or not.I do not agree with the degree of vile and contempt you have for him, but I understand.

She added, “The man I know was loving and caring. He was selfless in some aspects. He was brilliant in his gift and shared his talent with whomever would accept it. No…I am not saying he was a perfect man, but he was not that “Demon” that he was portrayed to be either.

I am sure that if we looked into the closets of all of you who projected your hate on my father, I wonder what we would find? What if YOU had aspects of your life exaggerated and put out for the world to see and YOUR life was destroyed based on that portrayal?”

If you had people posting vile messages to your family about what had been put out for the world to view. How would you feel?I am proud to be the daughter of Ike Turner and will continue to celebrate him until I draw my last breath. And those that TRULY know him WILL do the same!!So my prayer is that those of you who chose to continue to desecrate my post with your vile and insipid posts, will stop, but if not…so be it!

She goes on to say, “FYI… John L. Ruffin ‘s father did not know Tammy Terrell. So whomever it was that posted to John that his father beat Tammy, PLEASE get your facts in line before posting!

According to Twanna, the play originally debut November 5, 2015, but they seemed to have brought it back to the stage.

Is this a play y’all would want to see?
