Kirk Franklin Boycotts TBN After The Network Again Cuts Out His Speech On Victims Of Police Violence

“Today, I feel like quitting,” says Kirk Franklin.

The multi-Grammy Award winning Gospel artist is taking a stand and vowing to not be a part of any events affiliated with the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN), Gospel Music Association and the Dove Awards because the organizations again edited out his speech on victims who were killed in police shootings at the Dove Awards.

Listen to Kirk explain the situation in his own words.

I am frustrated and disgusted that this was even necessary. But in 2016, when Kirk won a huge Dove Award from the @gospelmusicassoc he made a statement about the horrible police murders of Philando Castile & Walter Scott. Without his permission @tbn then cut out his remarks about police violence. Kirk confronted them on this and they said it would never happen again. Well, they just did it again. Kirk won another award from the @gospelmusicassoc and then spoke about the brutal police murder of Atatiana Jefferson. And yet again, @tbn edited out his remarks. In light of this, Kirk just announced that he will no longer appear on any of these networks or programs until they address and fix what they’ve done here. What’s disgusting is that these channels and outlets would not exist without Black culture and Black money, but they don’t want Kirk to address Black pain. They love the culture and money but not the people or pain. Thank you Kirk for standing up not just for yourself, but for the families of Atatiana Jefferson, Philando Castile, and so many others.

So it looks like Kirk will no longer be performing or making any type of appearances on the Dove Awards or TBN.

We reached out to TBN — so far no comment.

Here’s the thing — if the Dove Awards wasn’t the place to speak on these subjects, shouldn’t these organizations said something the first time around — instead of going behind Kirk’s back and edited him a second time?
