Police say officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 3500 block of Northwest 213th Street around 6:30 p.m. on February 20, 2026, and found Gabriel Hubbert, 45, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds on the sidewalk in front of his residence. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
Hubbert’s family confirmed his identity and described him as a devoted husband and father of six children. Relatives and community members gathered at the scene in the hours after the shooting, lighting candles and embracing one another in emotional displays of grief.
“I learned how to love just by my husband,” Hubbert’s wife, Guerla, said as she spoke publicly about her husband’s life and death. “The man who shot him, I pray for your soul.”
