Street Preacher Slams Kirk Franklin For Failing To Represent Christ At The BET Awards

Kirk Franklin was publicly rebuked by a street preacher for allegedly failing to present the message of the Gospel during a 3.5-minute performance at the BET Awards show.

The Grammy award winner shared an approximately 4-minute Instagram video late Monday where the unidentified preacher in Jacksonville, Florida, told him, “You’ve got a lot of blood on your hands, sir!” for using his performance time to sing what he called lullabies to the world instead of pointing them to repentance.

In his performance of his song called “Love Theory” with singers Erica Campbell, Kelly Price and Jonathan McReynolds, Kirk shared a brief message about his faith when he declared “brothers and sisters, if you believe that Jesus is the light of the world, get up on your feet right now.”

Evidently, this wasn’t enough for the street preacher, who took the opportunity to slam Kirk as he prepares for his Jacksonville concert.

Many people came to Kirk’s defense, including Gospel artist Deitrick Haddon.

But then there were some who argued that Kirk’s performance along with the other singers who are all judges on the inspirational singing competition “Sunday Best,” was a promotion for the show which premiered on BET on June 30.

Kirk and the street preacher did agree to meet and talk about the Word of God after his Jacksonville concert. No word on how that turned out. Regardless, the show must go on and we’re sure his concert was filled with worship and praise.
