SHIRLEY RAINES, BEAUTY 2 THE STREETZ FOUNDER WHO HELPED SKID ROW’S HOMELESS, DIES AT 58

She was 58.

Raines, a mother of six, built Beauty 2 The Streetz into a lifeline for unhoused communities across Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and beyond. Through her work and viral social media presence, she uplifted the overlooked and ensured that people living on the streets were seen, heard, and treated with compassion. She amassed more than 5.7 million followers on TikTok, where her videos regularly showcased acts of kindness and humanity.

Tributes have poured in from across the country, including a tearful message from Lizzo, who honored the countless lives Ms. Shirley touched—including her own. Raines’ extraordinary work earned her national recognition, including being named CNN Hero of the Year in 2021 and winning the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Social Media Personality in 2025.
