A beautiful baby girl’s life was cut short due to the senseless act of her own father. Trenton Gordon, 23, was found dead alongside his 6-month-old daughter, Kahlia Marie Gordon , in an apparent murder-suicide.

Police in Calhoun County, Alabama confirms that little Kahlia was shot and killed Sunday shortly before 1 PM. According to investigators, Kahlia’s father, Trenton Gordon, also shot the girl’s grandfather inside a home in Ohatchee.

WIAT reports that Kahlia’s mother, Christina Gamez, recently filed for a protection from abuse order following a domestic violence incident that occurred back on Valentine’s Day.

The station claims court documents allege Gordon violated that order on March 29 — just two days before the murder-suicide.

According to investigators, Gordon arrived with his daughter at her mother’s home shortly before 1 pm, when an argument broke out between Gordon, the child’s mother and her grandfather.

During the dispute, police say Gordon drew a pistol and shot Kahlia’s grandfather once in the arm. He then exited the residence on Kirkseys Bend, taking his daughter out into the middle of the street. There, he shot and killed the baby before committing suicide.

Deputies attempted to perform CPR on the girl until paramedics arrived, but their efforts were unsuccessful.

The grandfather was transported to a nearby hospital in a stable condition and treated for his injuries.

Police say Kahlia’s mother had recently filed for a protection from abuse order against Gordon – who is a registered sex offender – prior to the fatal shooting.

Yesterday afternoon, Gordon took to Facebook to chillingly declare:

 
‘I just hate that this happened,’ said Calhoun County Sheriff Matthew Wade to AL.com. ‘It’s very sad and it’s just senseless.’

‘It’s disturbing, it’s disturbing to me, it’s disturbing to the deputies,’ he added to WBRC. ‘It’s just very, very sad, you know, the only thing I know to do is to pray for the mother, as she laid there, weeping with her child.’
