2022 Emmy Award Nominees Announced

In case y’all missed it, the nominations for the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards have been announced!

Breakout series “Abbott Elementary” received seven noms. Writer, comedian, and actress Quinta Brunson is killin’ her performance and has become the first Black woman to earn three Emmy nominations for comedy.

The other “Abbott Elementary” nominations were for supporting actors, including co-stars comedian Janelle James, “Dreamgirls” icon Sheryl Lee Ralph, and “Everybody’s Hates Chris” star Tyler James Williams.

Actress, writer, and comedian Issa Rae scored an outstanding actress nom in a comedy series “Insecure.” Childish Gambino star Donald Glover was also nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in “Atlanta”.

The late Chadwick Boseman received an Emmys nomination for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance for his role as T’Challa in “What If…?” and former President Barack Obama landed a nom for narrating the Netflix docuseries “Our Great National Parks.”

Netflix’s “Squid Games” became the first non-English Korean drama to be nominated in major categories and received a net of 14 Emmy.

Recording artist Lizzo is heading to the Emmys as “Watch Out for the Big Grrrls” is nominated for Outstanding Competition Program, and the “2022 Super Halftime Bowl Show,” featuring Dr. Dre, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Mary B. Blige, Kendrick Lamar, and 50 Cent, has been nominated for five Emmys.

The host of the evening will be comedian Cedric the Entertainer. The ceremony will be air on Sunday, Sept 19, 8 PM/5 PM PT. Check out the complete list of nominations via Vanity Fair.
