Students were celebrating their final days of classes when a gunmen opened fire on campus, killing 2 and injuring 4 others.

UNCC senior Shamar Crosby said that the students were preparing to go to a concert to see rapper Waka Flocka Flame before hearing gunshots throughout the campus.

The school was immediately put on lockdown and The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department tweeted that officers were going room to room on campus, identifying students and faculty members who may be sheltering in place.

UNCC Emergency Management sent a tweet saying “Run, Hide, Fight. Secure yourself immediately. Monitor email and emergency.uncc.edu.”

The shooter was taken into custody and there was no reason to believe anyone else was involved, police said.

Three of the injured victims are in critical condition, police said at a news conference Tuesday night. The fourth person suffered non life-threatening injuries.

According to the Alpha Tau Omega’s Lambda Delta chapter, one of their members are among the wounded victims. The fraternity said Drew Pescaro is under medical supervision at Carolinas Medical Center.
