John Amos has been very busy this year. As we already know, he’s reprising his role as Cleo McDowell in the much-anticipated film Coming 2 America. Before shooting scenes for the sequel, Amos wrapped up another movie with Adam Sandler entitled, Uncut Gems.
The 79-year old legendary actor (who actually turns 80 on December 27) said it was a small role but he is very appreciative for being a part of the film and shared his gratitude on his new Instagram page.
Uncut Gems is a crime thriller — directed by brothers Josh and Benny Safdie — about Howard Ratner (Sandler), a charismatic New York City jeweler always on the lookout for the next big score. When he makes a series of high-stakes bets that could lead to the windfall of a lifetime, Howard must perform a precarious high-wire act, balancing business, family, and encroaching adversaries on all sides, in his relentless pursuit of the ultimate win.”
Starring alongside Sandler and Amos is an ensemble cast that includes Lakeith Stanfield, Idina Menzel, Judd Hirsch, Eric Bogosian, NBA player Kevin Garnett, and musician The Weeknd.
Uncut Gems is stirring up some Oscar buzz so its good to know that John Amos will be a part of this exceptional film.
The movie is actually set to his theaters December 13, but is also premiering early at some locations. Check your local theaters for showtimes.
