Woman Who Paid R. Kelly’s Bond Wants Her $100,000 Back-But A Judge Said No

The woman who posted the $100,000 bond for R. Kelly following his arrest on 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, now wants her money back in light of the singer’s indictment.

On Tuesday, a Cook County judge ruled that Valencia Love won’t get her money back, at least not right away, the Chicago Sun Times reports.

According to Complex, Love owns several restaurants, as well as a Chicago-based childcare facility called the Lord and Child Christian Day Care.

She claimed to be a “friend” of Kelly when she gave four installments of $25,000 in order to have him released from Cook County State jail just two nights after he turned himself in.

Love has refused to reveal where the money for Kelly’s bond came from, but claimed the singer would have been freed eventually, even if it wasn’t with her help.

“I’m not going to say it was my money or [Kelly’s] and he’s not broke,” she told Fox32 News’ Tia Ewing. She also added, “He’s my friend and I knew he needed help.”

“He was going to get out regardless,” Love added. “I just went out there to help my friend.”

Once word got out of her involvement in Kelly’s release, her restaurants started to suffer with patrons vowing to never take their business to anything that has her name attached to it.

Despite the poor reviews, Love on the Blu, her diner just outside of Chicago, still appears to be open.

In her attempt to justify posting the singer’s bond, Love maintained his innocence, saying, “Let him have his chance in court to prove if he’s innocent or guilty. As a friend if he says he’s innocent, I can only believe that he is innocent.”

On July 11, Kelly was indicted on 18 counts, including child pornography production, obstruction of justice, and receipt of child pornography, by federal prosecutors in New York and Chicago.
