Whodini Rapper John ‘Ecstasy’ Fletcher Dead At 56
John ‘Ecstasy’ Fletcher, co-founder and member of the legendary rap group Whodini, has passed away at the age of 56.
The cause of death is unknown. John’s brother, Douglas Fletcher, told TMZ that the rapper died unexpectedly when he stopped breathing. According to the family, Ecstasy was awake Wednesday morning and was talking to people, but all of a sudden he just stopped breathing. They said he was healthy and regularly went to the gym.

Ecstasy formed Whodini with singer-rapper Jalil Hutchins in Brooklyn, NY in 1982. They then signed with the influential Jive Records shortly after.
Whodini was known for their hit songs, “One Love,” “Friends,” and “The Freaks Come Out at Night.”
The group earned the Hip Hop Icon Award at the 3rd Annual Black Music Honors in 2018.

John was living in Atlanta at the time of his death. Friends in the hip-hop community begin sharing tributes on social media.
