Twins In India Named Corona And Covid After Deadly Virus
A couple in India has named their newborn twins Corona and Covid, after the deadly novel coronavirus spreading around the globe.
“The delivery happened after facing several difficulties and therefore, my husband and I wanted to make the day memorable,” mom Preeti Verma told Press Trust of India, reported by Sky News.
It begin with the hospital workers referring to the babies as Corona and Covid — and evidently it stuck because the parents begin calling them that as well.
Preeti decided to name her babies after the pandemic to remind them of the adversities they have overcome.
The siblings, a boy and a girl, were born on March 27 to Preeti and Vinay Verma in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh, according to Sky News.
As of today, India has reported 3,082 cases and 86 deaths.
The country’s 1.3 billion residents have been put on lockdown with only trips to supermarkets and pharmacies permitted.
Congratulations to the new parents and welcome to the world, Covid and Corona.
