Tupac Shakur To Receive Posthumous Star On Hollywood Walk of Fame

TuPac Shakur is receiving some California Love even after death. The late rapper will be getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The posthumous honor comes almost 27 years after his death.

The announcement was shared on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Instagram page Wednesday.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce revealed that West Coast radio vet and REAL 92.3 host Big Boy will MC the event on June 7 and Tupac’s sister Sekyiwa “Set” Shakur will be on hand to accept the star on her brother’s behalf.

Director Allen Hughes and executive producer Jamal Joseph of F/X’s new Pac documentary Dear Mama: The Saga of Afeni and Tupac Shakur, will also serve as the guest speakers.

Shakur sold over 75 million records after launching his rap career in the early 1990s with 2 of his projects, “All Eyez on Me” and his “Greatest Hits” compilation, earning Diamond certifications from the RIAA.

He also appeared as an actor in several notable films, including Juice, Above the Rim, and 1993’s Poetic Justice, starring alongside Janet Jackson.

Pac was shot and killed in Las Vegas back in September 1996 but his legacy grew even more after death. Much of his life has been dissected for educational purposes in classrooms and colleges nationwide.

He continues to remain an influential figure in the hip-hop world and the recent docuseries on his relationship with his mother Dear Mama: The Saga of Afeni and Tupac Shakur has been a popular release on FX and Hulu this year.

The event will be held on Wednesday, June 7, at 10:30 a.m. PT and his star will be located at 6212 Hollywood Blvd.

This will make the 2,758th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and it will be in the Recording category. Pac will be joining fellow rappers Nipsey Hussle, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube and Dr. Dre, who recently recived their stars. This has been a long time coming.

Congratulations, Pac!
