Traci Braxton Has Passed Away At 50 From Cancer
Singer, actor, and reality star Traci Braxton passed away Saturday at the age of 50 following a year-long battle with Esophageal cancer.
Her husband Kevin Surratt shared the heartbreaking news with TMZ.
“We have come to a time where we must inform the public that after a year of privately undergoing a series of treatment for Esophageal cancer our beloved Traci Braxton has gone on to glory.”
Kevin also added that she passed away peacefully with her mom, sisters, and friends by her side.
Traci’s son Kevin Surratt, Jr. also shared the news on his Instagram page with a loving message for his mother.
“When I heard the news about my mother being sick first thing she said was I’m going to fight and beat this. She fought to the end and today she’s at peace. I love my mother forever and this hurts so much but I’m at peace knowing she’s isn’t in pain anymore. I love you ma I’m going to miss you.”
Traci, who is the sister to Grammy award-winning singer Toni Braxton, appeared on the reality show Braxton Family Values with all of her singing siblings — Toni, Tamar Braxton, Trina Braxton, and Towanda Braxton.
Her mother Ms. Evelyn Braxton was also a regular on the show, which ran for 7 seasons.
The sisters shared a joint statement following Traci’s death.
Over the years, Traci has been pretty busy in the entertainment industry. Along with being a part of the Braxton Family Values movement, she toured with her sisters Toni and Tamar and provided background vocals.
She also recorded a single with sisters Trina and Towanda called, “Broken Things.”
In her own fame, she recorded a hit song entitled, “Last Call,” which went to #16 on the Billboard Hot 100.
She starred in films such as, Sinners Wanted, There’s a Stranger in My House, and Chaaw.
Throughout all of her career, she still found time to support her family members in theirs.
Traci leaves behind her husband Kevin, her 26-year old son Kevin, Jr., a grandson Kevin Surratt, III, sisters, brother Michael Braxton, Jr., her mother, father Michael Braxton, Sr., and many other family members and friends.
This news has been a shock to all of Traci’s fans. She will be missed.
