The Young and the Restless: Shemar Moore & Vivica A. Fox Return for Multi-Episode Event

After nearly three decades, daytime television fans are celebrating a long-awaited reunion. Shemar Moore and Vivica A. Fox are returning to The Young and the Restless, reprising their iconic roles as Malcolm Winters and Dr. Stephanie Simmons in a special multi-episode arc set to air in April.

The actors began filming on February 17, and insiders are teasing that their return will carry “shocking and lasting implications” for the residents of Genoa City.

Revisiting Malcolm and Stephanie’s Story

Moore first stepped into the role of Malcolm Winters in 1994, quickly becoming one of the soap’s breakout stars. He remained a central figure until 2005, with several guest appearances in the years that followed. His portrayal earned him a Daytime Emmy Award in 2000 for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, along with multiple NAACP Image Awards.

Fox portrayed medical student Stephanie Simmons from 1994 to 1995. Stephanie’s romance with Malcolm began when they were set up by Malcolm’s sister-in-law, Olivia, who worked alongside Stephanie. Though their relationship showed promise, it was short-lived and ended in early 1995 before Stephanie exited the canvas.

Their storyline unfolded during one of the most dramatic periods in the show’s history — Malcolm’s controversial encounter with Drucilla, which led to a long-running paternity secret that rocked the Winters family for years.

From Daytime to Hollywood

Fox’s time on Y&R preceded a major leap into film stardom. While still on the soap, she auditioned for her breakout role opposite Will Smith in the blockbuster Independence Day.  She went on to star in Set lt Off, Soul Food, Kill Bill: Vol 1, and Lifetime’s popular “The Wrong” movie franchise, while also building a successful producing and directing career.

A Reunion Decades in the Making

Moore, meanwhile, transitioned from daytime heartthrob to primetime leading man, most notably starring in S.W.A.T. as Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson Jr. He is also set to headline the upcoming spinoff S.W.A.T. Exiles.

A Reunion Decades in the Making

For longtime viewers, this reunion represents more than nostalgia — it’s a return to a defining era of The Young and the Restless. With unfinished business and decades of history behind them, Malcolm and Stephanie’s reappearance is poised to send shockwaves through Genoa City.

Fans can expect drama, surprises, and perhaps even a few unresolved emotions when the episodes air this April.
