The Weeknd Becomes First Artist To Reach 100M Monthly Listeners on Spotify
The Weeknd has made history by becoming the first artist to reach 100,000,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.
The streaming service revealed the news in a Tweet, writing, “It’s official: On February 27, The Weeknd became the first artist in Spotify History to reach 100 Million monthly listeners.”
The recent surge in listeners could have been contributed by a couple of factors. Last week, the pop icon recruited Ariana Grande for a remix of his 2016 smash “Die For You,” and the collaboration put out big numbers. The song remained in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 for the last seven weeks. The original “Die For You” comes from The Weeknd’s Billboard 200-topping album Starboy, released in 2016.
Another reason why listeners are so in tune with the Weeknd is because of his recent SoFi Stadium concert in Los Angeles, which turned out to be a huge success. Live At SoFi Stadium, aired via HBO Max on Saturday, February 25.
The Weeknd is mostly recognized for his hits like “The Hills,” “I Feel It Coming,” “Call Out My Name,” and “Blinding Light.”
He also performed at the Super Bowl LV Pepsi Halftime Show in 2021.
Now this milestone and history in the making will only add to his amazing accomplishments. Congratulations to the Weeknd!
