The Lion King Brings In $185 Million Opening Weekend Despite So-So Reviews
Disney has done it again! They took a classic animated box office hit, and turned it into a live-action film that generated even more money. The numbers are in and “The Lion King” brought in over $185 million on it’s opening weekend.
Although the mullah sounds great, the film itself wasn’t as fantastic – which leaves the question: did the moviegoers really enjoy it, or were many just being nosey and ready to compare it to the original? Maybe people just love Disney and wanted to support.
Disney films are amazing and they have a knack for pulling their viewers heartstrings but “The Lion King” Live Action movie neglected to capture the essence of a touching picture, making it into a so-so film.
Although the CGI graphics were on point, the emotional aspect of the film that Disney is known for was missed. The humor was also limited, which resulted to a more serious film.
The cast did well, but it almost seems as if they were only reading a script and not necessarily acting out the roles. This could have been another reason why the emotional factor was lost.
Regardless, Disney still managed to bring in the dough and the film was entertaining to watch… just not the blockbuster hit we expected.
