Taraji P. Henson is set to headline the upcoming Netflix faith-based drama’ ’Tis So Sweet, directed by Tasha Smith and produced by Tyler Perry and DeVon Franklin. The project marks the second film under Perry and Franklin’s creative partnership with Netflix, following the success of Ruth & Boaz, which debuted at No. 2 on the streamer’s Global Top 10 Movies list earlier this year.
Production is currently underway in Atlanta.
A Star-Studded Ensemble Cast
Henson will portray Lenore Lindsey, the real-life Chicago bakery owner whose incredible story went viral in November 2024. Joining her is Jo-Vaughn Virginie Scott, better known as Joey Bada$$, continuing his rise in dramatic film after standout performances in Two Distant Strangers and Creed.
Netflix has confirmed nine additional cast members, rounding out the ensemble: Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, Russell Hornsby, Alexis Louder, Semaj Prather, Arischa Conner, Angela Davis, Caroline Avery Granger, director Tasha Smith in a supporting role, and DeVon Franklin. Ellis-Taylor and Henson reunite following their acclaimed collaboration in The Color Purple, while Hornsby previously worked with Henson on another big-screen project.
A True Story of Healing, Faith, and Miracles
’Tis So Sweet is based on the remarkable true story of Lenore Lindsey. The film follows the Chicago bakery owner as she makes a stunning discovery that forces her to confront her past, reclaim lost time, mend broken relationships, and rediscover her purpose through unexpected miracles.
The screenplay is written by Randy Brown, known for Miracles from Heaven. Tony Strickland and Angi Bones of Tyler Perry Studios serve as executive producers alongside Bart Lipton.
Henson Continues Her Netflix Momentum
The project follows Henson’s recent leading role in Straw, which premiered in June 2025 as her first Netflix original film. She is also slated to reunite with Tyler Perry in the upcoming comedy Why Did I Get Married Again?, a follow-up to Perry’s 2007 hit.
