Sunday Spotlight: Aunjanue Ellis Was PHENOMENAL As Dr. Mattie Moss Clark In The Clark Sister’s Biopic
The Clark Sisters: The First Ladies of Gospel premiered Saturday night on Lifetime and it did not disappoint. The cast portrayed their roles exceptionally well, but we cannot let a day go by without giving props to actress Aunjanue Ellis, who played the role of Dr. Mattie Moss Clark.
The biopic followed Clark, along with her five daughters — Jacky, Denise, Dorinda, Twinkie, and Karen — as they created the iconic Clark Sisters sound, eventually earning their way into the history books as the most celebrated and highest-selling female group in Gospel history.
Kierra Sheared, who played the role of her mother Karen Clark-Sheard, told Essence that the film and Ellis “perfectly portrayed the strength of her grandmother.”
We have to say, Ellis was definitely a driving force in this movie.
Wonderful job to the entire cast of this amazing film, and BRAVO to Aunjanue Ellis!
