Snoop Dogg Puts Death Row Records Music Back On Streaming Platforms
Death Row Records is back, baby!
Snoop Dogg has officially brought the record label’s catalog back to the streaming services. He shared the news on social media Thursday night (March 9).
“We heard you. The time has come. Death Row Records catalog is back streaming everywhere tonight 9pm PST.”
Snoop (real name Calvin Broadus) acquired the Death Row catalog and brand, along with its trademark, name and logo, from MNRK Music Group in February 2022, and almost immediately pulled the legendary catalog off streaming services, telling REVOLT it was because “those platforms don’t pay.” Snoop said he wanted to create a Death Row app to host the music and operate it as an “NFT label.”
In December, Snoop quietly sold a stake in the label’s catalog to gamma, a new full-service music company led by former Apple Music executive Larry Jackson.
Death Row Records was founded in 1992 by Dr. Dre, Suge Knight, The D.O.C. and Dick Griffey and was responsible for producing records by Tupac, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Michel’le, Nate Dogg, and so many more.
Some of their most popular albums were the “Chronic,” “Doggystyle,” and “All Eyez on Me.”
Snoop has put out more music for the label recently, now we can enjoy them all on the streaming platforms.
