See Jennifer Hudson As Aretha Franklin In The First ‘Respect’ Teaser
Jennifer Hudson is playing Aretha Franklin in the biopic ‘Respect’ which has been in the works since before Franklin’s death in 2018.
The film directed by Liesl Tommy is set to be released in October 2020. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film also stars Forest Whitaker, Marlon Wayans, Audra McDonald, Mary J. Blige, Marc Maron, Tate Donovan, Tituss Burgess and newcomer Sky Dakota Turner.
Callie Khouri wrote the script for the movie that follows Franklin’s rise to fame from a childhood singing in her father’s choir to her global fame as one of the greatest R&B vocalists of all time.
A teaser was recently released to give us our first taste of Hudson in character as the Queen of Soul.
The clip consists of Jennifer looking glamorous while singing the signature hit song ‘Respect’.
